EducationJunior Landscape Architecture Major at Mississippi State University
ACT: 28 (English 31, Math, 26, Reading 29, Science 27)
At the college level I have taken Algebra, Calculus, and English Composition 1&2. In high school I took Advanced Placement US History and recieved a 3 on the AP Test, earning college credit. In high school, I took honors courses in English, Algebra 1&2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Geography, World History, Chemistry, and Biology.
I want to be a tutor to help students do well in courses they currently struggle in. Because my major's curriculum does not directly relate to the majority of classes taken in high school, I understand being uninterested in the subjects you have to learn in 9th through 12th grade. I know that sometimes it is just hard to care about things that don't strike your fancy, which makes it so much harder to learning the material. I was lucky enough to be a "natural" at the school thing, but I know others are not. I would like to help others make it easier and more enjoyable to get through high school so that they have more opportunity to do what they want once they graduate.
HobbiesI am the "outdoors-y" type and prefer to be outside all hours of the day. I am extremely environmentally conscious. I recycle everything, and do not drive since I live so close to campus and have no need for a car (a bike is all that I need!). I love music and my playlist includes Steely Dan, Incubus, James Taylor, Kings of Leon, Yonder Mountain String Band, and Ben Harper. I also love to read. Among my favorite books are The Giver, The Great Gatsby, the Harry Potter Books, and anything by Kurt Vonnegut. I was born and raised outside of Memphis, TN in a Christian home.
